The Harry Potter novels have an enthused group of followers in many countries

I am quite fascinated by the high global success of the Harry Potter novels. The Harry Potter novels were written by the UK writer J.K. Rowling. She saw the light of day on 31 July 1965. Her complete name is Joanne Rowling. But she writes under the alias J.K. Rowling because in the beginning her publisher considered it was a good move to hide the fact that she is a woman. The publishing company thought it might have a negative effect on the sales numbers if everybody instantaneously sees that the author was a woman. Consequently, instead of showing her first name she used two initials. As she has no middle name she took Kathleen as basis for the K. in her short form. Kathleen is the name of her grandma.

The very first Harry Potter story - Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone - was publicized in 1997 in in Great Britain. Quite remarkable is the aspect that only 1,000 pieces of the first book were published at that time. The original title of the novel was not Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, but Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. But when the book was released to the United States market place on 1 September 1998, it was publicized as Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

After that J.K. Rowling invented several additional Harry Potter books. Now the Harry Potter series is made of a total of seven stories. These are:

  • Story 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
  • Story 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
  • Story 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
  • Story 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • Story 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
  • Story 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
  • Story 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

The Harry Potter books have been translated into more than sixty-five languages and have been released in many countries. Besides the impressing success in the USA and Great Britain, Harry Potter is also quite popular in the European Union. The Harry Potter novels have been publicized to the German audience under these titles:

I must admit that I did not have the opportunity to read all those novels. But there are readers who know them all, which is very remarkable and contributes to the tremendous success.
